Is it mandatory? No — but Europass is a safe and widely accepted starting point, especially for international applicants.

The structure helps you organise your information, but Swedish employers still prefer a simple, highly readable CV — so the final version should always prioritise clarity and tailoring over strict template format. 

Many jobs are filled through networks and referrals, so start building connections early — even before you urgently need a job.

Remember that it's about becoming a known entity. The job description is only 50% of the role. The other 50% is 'Will I enjoy having a fika with this person?'.
